Suspicious Activity Reporting for the Public Safety Sector

This training course is designed to improve the effectiveness of state, local, and tribal law enforcement professionals in identifying, reporting, evaluating, and sharing pre-incident terrorism indicators to prevent acts of terrorism. The objective of the training session is to facilitate agency implementation of the SAR process and to enhance a nationwide SAR capability.

Suspicious Activity Reporting for Analysts

This training course is designed around procedures to ensure SARs are properly reviewed and vetted to the appropriate law enforcement officials. These procedures promote the integrity of submitted information; protecting citizens’ privacy, civil rights and liberties; and successfully implementing the SAR process. Involves identifying behaviors that could be associated with pre-incident terrorism planning and the process for sharing terrorism-related SARs nationwide. Also ensures analysts and investigators are trained to recognize terrorism-related pre-incident indicators and to validate whether the behavior has a potential nexus to terrorism and meets criteria for SAR submission.

This course is where students will learn how to accurately and efficiently analyze crimes and incidents through intelligence led policing. The objective of the training is to inform students on how to identify a crime pattern, collect critical incident information such as points of interest, persons of interest and subsequent mapping for visual representation, identification of clusters and links; utilizes the Crime Triangle approach of linking Offender, Victim and Location.

NIEM Compliance

The purpose of this session is to provide information in regards to the National Information Exchange Model. NIEM is a partnership between the U.S. Dept. of Justice and U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security to develop, disseminate and support enterprise-wide information exchange standards and process that allow jurisdictions to effectively share critical information (day-to-day and emergency situation information) nationwide. This class provides practical implementation strategies for data exchanges and methodologies using NIEM. The standardization of the components produces an increase in interoperability from data exchanges among a variety of information systems.
